Lake H. B. Robinson Lake H B Robinson is a 2,250 acre reservoir on Black Creek in Chesterfield and Darlington Counties near Hartsville, South Carolina. Operated by Progress Energy, this lake is widely used by local residents for year-round boating events, fishing, and water skiing. Boating Progress Energy maintains a public boat ramp and pier at the north end of the lake. Boaters can gain access to this ramp via Lake Robinson Drive, also known as State Road S-13-346. This road crosses the lake between Middendorf Road and W. Bobo Highway. |

Lodging Primitive camping is available at Sand Hills State Forest, located in Chesterfield County. About 20 more miles to the east along U.S. 1, campers can find more developed campgrounds at Cheraw State Park. The latter park has available spaces for up to 40-foot RVs. You can find other accommodations in Darlington County, including more campgrounds located throughout the counties and on the east and west shores of the lake. Both counties also have B&Bs, hotels and motels, and guest houses. Cheesterfield and Darlington Counties are part of South Carolina's "Olde English District," providing plenty of accommodations to suit your taste in areas from Charlotte to Columbia. Robinson is located in Darlington and Chesterfield Counties, close to Hartsville and the Hartsville Regional Airport (Southwest Airlines). Other nearby towns include Bishopville and Darlington near I-20 and I-95, Kershaqw, Cheraw, and Bennetsville. The closest major city is Columbis, accessible directly from I-20. |
