Piedmont Lake The peaceful and scenic Piedmont Lake in northeast Ohio covers 2,312 acres and lies midway between Cambridge and Cadiz. Its 38-mile shoreline stretches through portions of Belmont, Guernsey and Harrison counties. Recreational activities at Piedmont Lake include boating, camping, fishing, hunting, water sports, wildlife viewing, and touring the dam facility. Piedmont Marina and Campgrounds is an on-site, full-service private facility. The marina supplies visitors with boat rentals, boat sales and service, fishing supplies a family-friendly restaurant. The campgrounds provide a range of choices to suit every camper's taste and needs (See “Lodging” below:). Anglers are advised to bring a pair of binoculars for a close look at the local eagles and ospreys. Piedmont is a lake ideal for boaters and fisherman alike. There are no picnic areas, hiking trails, horseback trails or mountain bike paths to distract those enjoying the quietness of the water. Fishing Both largemouth and smallmouth bass are being caught on a variety of baits including live night crawlers, jerk baits, shiners, crank baits and plastics fished three- to five- feet deep, five- to six- feet from shore. Boating Piedmont Marina offers docking, pontoon and fishing boat rentals, fuel, boating and fishing supplies and services and more. Two public launching ramps offer access to the lake which has a 10 HP limit. |
Lodging Camping at Piedmont Lake is available through Muskinghum Watershed Conservancy District (MWCD). While most of the campsites are primitive, several campsites will accommodate RVs up to 35 feet. Many offer electric hookups and some are equipped with full hookups. Several types of cabins are available to rent and there is also a motel at the marina.. Please review the Lake Resource Guide for additional lodging information in the area. Communities The closest major Ohio city is Columbus. Other nearby Ohio cities: Cambridge, Dover, Steubenville and Zanesville. The lake is located in Belmont, Guernsey and Harrison counties. |
