Arkabutla Lake The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers developed Arkabutla Dam on the Coldwater River as the second dam in a series of four for the Yazoo Headwaters Project. The other three lakes, Enid, Sardis, and Grenada Lakes, were constructed about the same time for flood control along the Lower Mississippi Valley. Arkabutla Lake today sees about two million people per year who swim, fish, boat, sail, and camp in this lake's 57,250 acres of land and water. The reservoir alone covers 40,704 acres. Arkabutla Lake is located a mere 30 miles from Memphis and from the Tunica casinos. Development around the lake includes camping, golf courses, beaches, and tent and RV camping at one of the 333 camp sites located around this lake. Fishing |
