Nantachie Lake

Nantachie Lake is a reservoir on the Bayou Nantachie in Grant County, Louisiana. Construction of the dam was completed in 1964, and the lake now is owned by Department Of Wildlife and Fisheries. Located between Montgomery and Colfax, Louisiana, this lake is a quiet spot that anglers can enjoy. Alternate names for this lake include Nantaqui Lake, Lake Natchez and Nautoches Lake.

Fishing

Anglers are fond of this lake, as it doesn't see as much pressure as larger lakes in the region like Toledo Bend Reservoir. Anglers can find largemouth bass, bluegill, and crappie. Nantachie is known as one of the better lakes in central Louisiana for redear sunfish. Cover includes piers, brush, islands, and docks.

Nantachie Lake is a shallow lake, so count on Jon boats, canoes, or other flat-bottom boats for boating and fishing.

Grant Parish is experiencing a population boom, and land is going up for sale around this lake. Although not highly developed yet, visitors can find private campgrounds, hotels, and other lodging in both Montgomery and in Colfax. Short-term vacation rentals may be available around the lake.

Nantachie Lake is located in Grant Parish, Louisiana, near I-49. Towns surrounding this reservoir include Montgomery and Colfax, the county seat. The closest major city is Alexandria, just ten miles from Colfax along Highway 71. Alexandria also has the closest major airport.
