Black Bayou Lake

Black Bayou Lake is located in Caddo Parish, Louisiana, near Monroe, and this lake is not to be confused with Black Bayou Reservoir, which is located in Bossier Parish in the northwestern part of this state. Black Bayou Lake is surrounded by the Black Bayou Lake National Wildlife Refuge that covers over 6,500 square miles. The City of Monroe owns this 1,600-acre lake, and has leased the water and the surrounding lands free to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for 99 years to manage the properties. The refuge and its waters are open year-round from dawn to dusk.

Fishing

Anglers launch over 5,000 boats each year at this lake in pursuit of catfish, crappie, sunfish, bluegill, and largemouth bass. The fishing environment is ideal for anglers who love Cypress lake fishing -- the lake is studded with Cypress and tupelo trees, and it is surrounded by swamps. Be aware that boat lanes are available, but beyond those lanes you'll find obstructions and stumps near the water's surface.

Black Bayou Lake is open for fishing from dawn to dusk every day. Parking is available near the boat launch, but no vehicles are allowed overnight.
