Cagles Mill Lake Cagles Mill Lake, located in south central Indiana, surrounded by nature's woodlands, provides 1,400 acres of recreational waters retained within a 37-mile shoreline. With the majestic Cataract Falls as the headwaters of Cagles Mill Lake, this man-made lake is a popular recreation site known for its waterfalls. Cagles Mill Lake / Reservoir, also known as Cataract Lake, is located among two State Recreational Areas (SRA), each of which, provide lots of opportunities for outdoor recreation. Half in Cataract Falls SRA and half in Lieber SRA, Cagles Mill Lake flows through Owen and Putnam counties. In addition to being home to the spectacular Cataract Falls, (Indiana's largest waterfalls), Cagles Mill Lake is home to a bald eagle's nest to where the birds return every year and the historic Cataract Falls' Covered Bridge, which was built in 1865. The bridge was entered in the National Register of Historic Places in 2005. Fishing Nice sized crappie are also being caught in Cagles Mill waters. Anglers can fish from the pier or from boats, which can be launched from one of two public access boat ramps. Organized fishing excursions are available.
