Lake Columbia

The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission (AGFC) created 3,000-acre Lake Columbia by impounding Beech Creek about six miles from Magnolia. Visitors can enjoy an historic town and a lake that offers fun for boating enthusiasts and anglers. AGFC provides boat docks and fishing piers, some with handicap accessibility.

Fishing

Anglers have come to expect plenty of largemouth bass at this lake. Flooded timber covers about half the lake, providing great environments for a number of fish species. Fishing also is excellent for crappie, channel catfish, bluegills and red-ear sunfish.

A small area is off-limits to unauthorized visitors. Pleasure boaters and water sports enthusiasts can enjoy the western half of the lake, while anglers have access to all but that unauthorized section.

Lodging

Logoly State Park, located near McNeil about 8 miles from Magnolia, provides six camp sites for tent campers. Two state parks are located about 40 miles north of Magnolia near Camden, but only White Oak Lake State Park has camping facilities. The Columbia County Rural Development Authority owns and manages the campground at Lake Columbia, and that facility offers water and electric hook-ups. An privately-owned RV rental location is near the lake. Several hotels also are located in Magnolia and in McNeil.

Review the Lake Resource Guide for additional lodging.
