Lodging Camping provides one of the major activities along this lake outside of fishing. There is very little development around this reservoir, which provides for a relaxing camping experience. William B. Bankhead National Forest is located to the east, and this natural area offers camping opportunities that range from primitive camping throughout the forest to full hook-up RV camp sites (on Lewis Smith Lake near Double Springs). Russellville, located about thirteen miles to the northeast of this reservoir, offers approximately eight hotels. Review the Lake Resource Guide for additional lodging. Communities Located entirely within Franklin County, Alabama, Little Bear Creek Reservoir is near Russellville, Pleasant Grove, Rock Creek, and Piney Bend. The closest major city with an airport is at Huntsville at about 65 miles from the reservoir. Muscle Shoals also has an airport, and that town is located a little over 30 miles north from Little Bear Creek Reservoir. |
