Cedar Creek Lake Cedar Creek Dam is one of four dams built by the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) and that are now operated by the Bear Creek Development Authority (BDCA). Cedar Creek Reservoir, also known as Cedar Creek Lake, is the largest of the four lakes in this region, which include Bear Creek, Upper Bear Creek, and Little Bear Creek. TVA completed this impoundment in 1979. Fishing This Reservoir is noted for its largemouth and spotted bass populations as well as its crappie fishing. Catfish and bream also abound. The lake was stocked with over 41,000 Florida strain largemouth bass in 1979. Hybrid striped bass were stocked through the 1980s. Anglers must carry a Bear Creek Development Authority permit in addition to an Alabama fishing license. |

Lodging Joe Wheeler State Park is the closest state park to Cedar Creek Lake at 55 miles. Located near Florence and Muscle Shoals, this area offers a wide variety of lodging for the lake's visitors. William B. Bankhead National Forest also maintains camping areas, and it is located 47 miles southeast from the lake. Other lodging is located near the lake, including a campground at Slickrock and hotels in Russellville. Review the Lake Resource Guide for additional lodging. Communities Located entirely in Franklin County, Cedar Creek Reservoir is near Russellville, Pleasant Grove, Rock Creek, and Piney Bend. The lake also isn't far from Muscle Shoals on the south shores of the Tennessee River. The largest airport is located in Huntsville, about 75 miles from the lake.
