Logan Martin Lake

Situated on the Coosa River between Lay Lake and Lake Neely Henry, Logan Martin Lake contains over 15,000 surface acres and is wrapped with 275 miles of shoreline. This reservoir borders St. Clair and Talladega Counties and stretches 48 miles from the Logan Martin Dam upstream to the H. Neely Henry Dam.


This lake's draw for anglers is the largemouth and spotted bass populations. Largemouth bass growth has been very successful here, and represents in the 12-18 inch range. Spotted bass show between 14-21 inches, with normal numbers in the 17-20 inch range. Other species in this lake include crappie and white, hybrid, and striped bass. Many bass tournaments also are hosted on this lake.

Boaters can find several access points along the lake, mostly at marina sites. There are three free public access sites, and the rest are pay-as-you-go boat ramps.


Plenty of accommodations are available in the area, as Logan Martin Lake is located just 30 miles east from Birmingham and sits just northwest of Talladega. Visitors can gain access to the lake from Birmingham along I-20, which crosses the Coosa River upstream from the dam. The nearby Talladega National Forest also offers recreational opportunities for the entire family, and Talladega is known for its speedway racing events.

Logan Martin Lake is located in Talladega and St. Clair Counties in Alabama. Nearby towns include Pell City, Lincoln, and Talladega. Birmingham is located no more than an hour's drive from just about any point along the lake via I-20.
